Pete Devine Has been playing the drums And blowing the jug since he was a young kid. He is a well known Jazz & blues drummer, and gained a national audience with the popular trio "Bo Grumpus". He has recorded and performed with Mal Sharpe(20yrs)Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers;the late Blues legend Howard Armstrong; singer Dan Hicks;& recorded with Maya Angelou-just to name a few, and currently plays drums & jug with the popular SF band "Gaucho"
He is also one of the best jug blowers around today,and is the leader of one of the country's finest and hardest working jug bands around today- Devine's Jug Band. DJB has performed at the SF Jug Band Festival four consecutive years now;headlined the Louisville Ky, National Jug Band Jubilee last year; appeared two timed on NPR's "West Coast Live" w/ Sedge Thompson. Pete Devine's Jud Band has performed with legendary vocalist Dan Hicks, and also w/ Maria Muldaur numerous times,and Pete has recorded on her most recent album titled "the Garden of Joy Jug Band". Pete also used to performed and has recorded-on the jug- with the late clarinetist Bobby Helm & Cornetist Leon Oakley, & the late pianist Pete Clute-all longtime members of the Famous Turk Murphy's Yurba Buena Jazz Band.
Pete has also helped organize the past 4 San Francisco Jug Band Festivals, and produced this years "1 Annual West Coast Jug Band Jubilee".
